In the beginning, Calvary Christian Academy was the vision of a handful of faithful families who believed they, with God’s blessing, could provide an environment where not only their children’s minds would be nurtured but their faith and character also. Started in the basement of the Pentecostal Church in Carleton Place with six students in 1997, CCA today has over 120 children from junior kindergarten to grade eight, and is blessed with its own building on 50 acres of fields and woods.
From 1997 to 2001, through prayer and hard work, the school overcame financial struggles and searched to find a permanent location. Private investors and philanthropists worked with the founding families to bring God’s plan for the school to fruition. The decision was made to build the school in Franktown – the geographic centre of the towns where many of the CCA families lived. During this time, God continued to provide names of families to be introduced to CCA and one by one, these families enrolled their children. By the opening of the new school building in October 2001, the number of students had ballooned to almost 100.
CCA continues to grow and touch the lives of new families every year – a testament to God’s plan for the school. Families have moved from other communities to be closer to the school and students travel by bus from as far away as Kanata each day. The school is ‘united by His Spirit” and is thankful to have a wide mix of churches represented at CCA. The founding families have always felt this was God’s will.
Many years of success have now, happily, resulted in a few “growing pains”. Having grown beyond the current capacity of the main building, portables are now used to house our senior classes and the need for additional facilities is overdue. For this reason, CCA has decided to initiate a Building the Future capital campaign with a goal of raising $1,000,000 over five years. The money raised will enable CCA to build-out the remaining 3 classrooms and resource rooms. With help from all the friends of CCA, we believe this can happen.
