2017 Summer Program Overview

*** Please note that many of these camps fill up fast with waiting lists.

This summer we are excited to be opening our doors and 50-acre facility to offer four weeks of exciting programs. Through the programs we look to provide a fun and safe environment where children are encouraged to pursue new adventures and make lasting friendships.

Drop off between 8:30 am and 9:00 am               Pick Up between 3:30 pm and 4:00 pm

*Before care and after care is available if there is enough interest. Unfortunately we cannot offer before or after care for Kindercamp as they are regulated by the Child Care Early Years Act.

Students will be responsible for their own lunch daily

Space is limited for each program. Apply early to ensure a spot!

Ambassador Program:  If a camper from previous years brings a friend (not a member of their immediate family) who has never been a camper at CCA Summer Programs, both campers will receive a $25 discount on their own time at camp (limit one discount per camp).

Sibling Registration: Siblings that register for the same week will receive a $25 discount on their registrations.

Registration

Families are encouraged to register quickly as space is limited for each program. In 2016 most camps had waiting lists.

In addition, each family is required to complete and sign a Health Form.

Kids Camp

Instructor: Suzanne White

Dates:

Week 1 July 3 – 7, Week 2 July 10 – 14(Full)

Week 3 July 17-21(Full), Week 4 July 24 -28(Full)

Cost:  $160/week or $550 for all 4 weeks if registered before May 31st

Ages: 4 to 6 as of June 30th

Kids Camp is a licensed program that is a combination of strengthening literacy and numeracy skills along with a rich and wholesome summer vacation experience. The children will be able to play with others their own age in a school setting. We are able to supplement the academic schedule with arts and crafts, drama, music and movement, cooking and sports in the gymnasium. Each week will be a different theme.

There is no before or after care that can be provided for this camp.

This program is being led by the Appleseeds Preschool teacher at CCA . Suzanne has over 15 years’ experience working with children and youth from diverse backgrounds.

Tee It Up

Instructor: Nathan Rice

Date: July 17th – July 21st(Full)

Cost: $180                                                               Ages: 6 to 14 as of Dec.31st

The CCA Golf Clinics are full day camps designed to introduce juniors from grades 1 – 8 to full and short game fundamentals, golf etiquette and on‐course instruction in a fun and safe environment. Whether you are an experienced golfer or just beginning, you will enjoy our week long program. The camp will conclude with students participating in a round of golf at a local golf course.

This program is being led by the Grade 9 Teacher at CCA. Nathan Rice is a certified golf teaching professional.

Hockey Camp

Instructor: Tom Bourne

Date: July 3rd – 7th  and  July 24th-28th(Full)

Cost: $275                                                                  Ages: 6 to 14 as of Dec.31st

The CCA Fundamental Hockey Camp is geared for boys and girls of all skill levels, grades 1‐8. Campers will be divided into groups and given the opportunity to improve their hockey skills both on and off the ice in a positive environment. Beyond the specific hockey skills and drills, emphasis will be placed on character building including respect, discipline, fair play and sportsmanship.

The program will begin each day at the Beckwith Arena with children having 2.5 hours of ice time daily. Children will then be bused back to Calvary Christian Academy where they will have opportunity to participate in both dry-land training and cross-training in the Academy’s gymnasium and facility.

This program is being led by the Principal at CCA. Tom Bourne has hockey experience both as a player and coach.

Tech Camp

Instructor: Nathan Rice

Date: July 24th – 28th

Cost: $160 /week                                                           Ages: 8 to 14 as of Dec.31st

We are excited to have back a well received camp from last summer. Whether you’re a computer novice or a tech whiz, you’ll shine at our Tech Camp. Campers will learn about graphic design, website development, gaming and video production. By the end of the week, each camper will have completed two projects to showcase on the final day. We encourage campers to bring in their own device(s): laptop, tablet, camera, microphone, etc.

This program is being led by the Grade 9 teacher at CCA. Nathan Rice is our program leader at CCA keeping both staff and students afresh with new educational technologies.  Nathan is also the mastermind behind the Free the Numbum project that is designed to get students active in the classroom.

Cooking Camp

Instructor: Sylvia Bourne

Date: July 3rd – 7th MORNINGS ONLY (AFTERNOON OPTION AVAILABLE SEE BELOW)

Cost: $110 /week                                                           Ages: 8 to 14 as of Dec.31st

This camp is designed for kids that have an interest in learning to help in the kitchen.   During their time they will learn the basics of food handling.  They will learn some food safety and how to prepare healthy simple snacks and meals themselves.  Our hope is that the week will equip and encourage kids to be a help in the kitchen at home.

Please note this camp is only for the morning hours 8:30am – 12:00pm

Students have the option of staying at CCA for the afternoon as part of a fun program. An additional fee of $75 will apply.

This program is being led by Sylvia Bourne.  Sylvia is a certified food handler with more than 15 years in the food and beverage industry.

Jr. Sports Camp

Instructor: Graeme Appleyard

Date: July 10th – 14th

Cost: $160 /week                                                         Ages: 6 to 12 as of Dec.31st

Jr. Sports Camp is for the sports enthusiast that looks forward to playing hard, having fun and learning sports and sports skills. Each day, morning and afternoon, we will focus on different sports and have a lot of fun.

This program is being led by our grade 8 Teacher at CCA. Graeme Appleyard has experience both as an athlete and coach and brings a real love and energy to the sports camp program.
