Since the beginning, Calvary Christian Academy was built on a foundation of faith and was the vision of a handful of faithful families who believed they, with God’s blessing, could provide an environment where not only their children’s minds would be nurtured but their faith and character also.  CCA’s roots started in the basement of a church with six students in 1997, then grew to step out in faith to build its own campus location on 50 acres in Franktown in 2002. CCA continued to grow and touch the lives of new families every year, a testament to God’s plan for the school, and this led to seeing the Academy physically expand twice, first in 2013 with a preschool classroom, kindergarten classroom, office and kitchen addition and again in 2018 an expansion in the lower school wing, adding 3 more classrooms and two sets of bathrooms.

Today the Academy is blessed to welcome close to 200 students from preschool to grade 12 every day on the beautiful 50 acres of fields and wood. We are thankful for every opportunity to help support the home in the development of the minds and hearts of children, to “seek ye first the kingdom of God”.  By God’s will, CCA will continue to grow and teach children in an environment where they will know and experience God’s love. 

The Academy is excited to continue the tradition of growth and expansion for this generation and future generations as we embark on a “Get Outside” initiative that will maximize the use of our outdoor campus acreage and see it transformed into a recreational complex fit for students of all ages and abilities to encourage, foster and provide safe spaces for outdoor play, conversation, and supervision during activity break, gym class and before and after school.  

The “Get Outside” initiative is a response to a change in education that has been brought forth by the current focus on fresh air supply and distancing measures during school.  For the 2021-22 school year, in light of what we feel to be a permanent shift in education due to the global pandemic, we have begun this initiative to reflect these changes seen in the education world, by focusing on the health of students by providing for and promoting outdoor activities and outdoor learning as much as possible.

The leadership at the Academy has prayerfully thought through this new initiative with prayer and discussion and is looking for financial partners from our supporting community to share in our “Get Outside” vision. The campaign is going to coincide with the annual Where’s Franktown run and students of the Academy are going to do their part, getting active and “virtually” running across Canada – 8000kms! September 2021 is the  Academy’s 25th school year and what a FANTASTIC way to begin the school year, by seeing the “Get Outside” initiative realized, and ready to be enjoyed by our growing student community. Providing we are able, we look forward to having our annual Back to School Fair and Barbeque and welcome our community to join us to celebrate God’s provision and faithfulness to the Academy.

In summary, the purpose of this “get outside” initiative is three-fold;

• Maximize use of outdoor space for learning and play in all seasons
• Provide focused zones/areas for outdoor play and activities of all ages K-12
• Encourage, promote and provide for safe, structured well-supervised outdoor activities for CCA and CCHS students now and in the future
